Open the Korçë guide →What is lakror?
A thin, layered pie filled with greens, leeks, onion or meat, traditionally cooked slowly under a saç lid covered with embers.
You'll find it in bakeries and traditional restaurants around the Old Bazaar. Ask if it's cooked under saç.
Where should I eat in Korçë?
Around the restored Old Bazaar (Pazari i Vjetër) and the streets near the cathedral.
In August the Korça Beer Festival fills the city with food stalls and music.
How do I get to Voskopojë without a car?
Take a taxi from Korçë (around 30 minutes) and agree a return time, or ask at the bus area about the furgon.
Voskopojë was once a large trading town; several 18th-century churches with frescoes survive.
Is Korçë worth visiting in summer and winter?
Yes. Summer is mild for Albania thanks to the altitude; winter brings Christmas markets, snow nearby and cosy restaurants.
