eSIM & mobile data in Albania

Albania is not in the EU

Your “roam like at home” allowance does not cover Albania. Most European and UK plans bill it as rest-of-world, which is how travellers end up with a three-figure bill after a week of maps. Switch data roaming off before you land, then use an eSIM or a local SIM.

Buy an eSIM before you fly

Install at home, activate when you land, no queue at the airport.

Airalo

eSIM bought before you fly, activates when you land

Albania data packs from roughly €5 for 1 GB / 7 days up to €20 for 10 GB / 30 days. Data only, no local number.

Holafly

Unlimited-data eSIM for short trips

From about €6–7 a day with no data cap, which suits heavy map and video use. No local number and no tethering on some plans.

Maya Mobile / Nomad

Regional Balkans eSIM

Worth it if you combine Albania with Montenegro, Kosovo or North Macedonia on the same trip — one pack covers several borders.

Vodafone Albania

Desk in the Tirana Airport arrivals hall. Tourist packs around 1,000–2,000 ALL (€10–20) for 20–50 GB valid 14–30 days. Bring your passport.

ONE Albania

Also at the airport and in every town centre. Similar prices, usually the strongest signal in the northern mountains.

Where coverage drops

4G is good in cities and along the coast. Expect no signal in Theth, on the Valbona pass, in parts of Osumi Canyon and on the Komani ferry. Download offline maps and your trip pack before you go up.
