Where exactly is Piqeras located?
Piqeras is situated on a hillside along the Ionian coast of Southern Albania.
The village is part of the Lukovë administrative unit and sits between the villages of Borsh to the north and Lukovë to the south. It is approximately 29 kilometres north of Saranda by road.
Its elevated position provides a vantage point over the sea and the nearby Greek island of Corfu, making it a popular spot for sunset photography.
What is Bunec Beach like?
Bunec is a long, pebbly beach divided by a small stream that flows into the sea.
Unlike the crowded beaches of Ksamil, Bunec offers a quieter atmosphere. The shoreline consists of white pebbles and clear, turquoise water. A concrete pier serves as a landmark and jumping point for swimmers.
Facilities typically include a few seasonal restaurants, small hotels, and campsites. Sunbeds and umbrellas are usually available for rent during the summer months.
What can you see in Piqeras village?
The village is known for its traditional architecture and the historic Monastery of Saint Mary.
Walking through the village reveals stone-paved paths and houses built with local rock. The Kremesova Monastery (St. Mary's), above the village, is a key cultural site, reflecting the region's religious heritage.
Piqeras is also famous for being the birthplace of Vasili Laçi, an Albanian patriot. A small monument dedicated to him can be found in the village.
