What to show at the border
A valid passport; carry proof of accommodation, onward travel and funds in case you're asked.
Travel health insurance is strongly recommended and is required for residence permits.
Living as a digital nomad
Tirana, Sarandë and Durrës are popular bases with fast mobile data and low rents.
Local SIM data is cheap, coworking spaces exist in Tirana, and a monthly apartment costs far less than in Western Europe. Tax rules depend on your status — ask an adviser if you stay long term.
Does Albania count toward my 90 Schengen days?
No. Albania is outside the Schengen Area, so days there don't count.
Can other nationalities stay one year?
The one-year rule is specific to US citizens. Most other visa-free visitors get 90 days in 180.
